Great, great piece. Inspired connection between the nameless women and (was it Lizzie Borden?) the Pre-Raphelite muse. Just got this issue of Mome and I think it's the best STORY in there. You totally put your finger on the fantastical/supernatural/poetic nature of Carre's work....another cartoonist of her generation with a strongly poetic sensibility to their work is John Hankiewicz, I think. Thanks for an interesting and thought-provoking piece, makes me want to re-read "The Carnival" straightaway!
